Mount Archer Skywalk
Nurim Circuit walk
Mt Archer National Park and the Skywalk are a 20 minute drive from the middle of Rockhampton. Following Pilbeam Drive you leave the suburbs behind and wind your way up the side of Mt Archer. The drive to the top is lovely in itself, but the views from the top are stunning.
The 580 metre Nurim Circuit walk starts from the carpark and goes past the Amphitheatre, a lovely grassy picnic area with views out over Rockhampton, before heading onto the skywalk. Out to a lookout that is a step above the average.
An easy flat walk, accessible for everyone, the tree top boardwalk extends out in a curve, 25 meters from the side of Mount Archer. At 604 metres above sea level, the views over the city and the mighty Fitzroy River are spectacular.
Near the car park there are shaded picnic tables, barbeques and toilet facilities and along the path there are interpretive signs of the local Darumbal culture. The boardwalk faces west, offering a perfect vantage point to catch the sunset.
