Grass Point Walk

Bruny Island | 4km | easy | 1.5 hr

Perfect for family groups and less experienced walkers, this walk begins in beautiful Adventure Bay. From the carpark near the jetty at the end of Adventure Bay Road stroll along the sand to the eastern end of the beach. Cross a small creek and head up the stone steps to the walking track signposted Fluted Cape Circuit. The easy walk to Grass Point is the first section of the more challenging Fluted Cape walk.

The track gently undulates through dry eucalypt forest packed with tall blue gums. On the right there are new houses being built, how beautiful it would be to live in this idyllic location. Following the shoreline along the crystal blue waters the views across the bay keep getting better as we get closer to the point. Used as a whaling area between 1820-40 this area is littered pioneering relics and there are numerous signs along the track with historical information. After passing through sections of dense she oak forest the trail ends on a pebbly beach at Grass Point.

At the end of the point you can see Penguin Island where many sea birds can be spotted, but sadly there are no penguins to be seen. This area is also home to the white wallaby, but we were not lucky enough to see one on this trip.

When you have finished exploring head back the way you came. If you are after more of a challenge continue on the Fluted Cape circuit.
